Cirrus Aircraft Expands Grand Forks Manufacturing Facility

Cirrus Aircraft is investing $13 million to expand its North Dakota facility by 30,000 square feet, bringing the total size of the location to 195,000 square feet. This expansion supports the continued production of the company’s SR Series piston singles and the SF50 Vision Jet. The additional space will accommodate new equipment, increased storage capacity, and advanced technical tools to enhance manufacturing operations.

Founded in 1984, Cirrus Aircraft is an industry leader in aircraft design, manufacturing, maintenance, and management, and also offers flight training services. The company is headquartered in Minnesota, with operational sites across several states, including North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Florida, and Michigan. Internationally, Cirrus has sales locations in France and the Netherlands. The company is majority-owned by a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

To date, Cirrus has delivered more than 11,000 aircraft worldwide. Its core offerings include the SR20, SR22, and SR22T:

  • SR20: Ideal for personal flying and flight training. Commonly used by flight schools due to its reliability and lower operating costs.

  • SR22: Suited for longer cross-country travel. Offers more power and capability, especially in varying weather and terrain conditions.

  • SR22T: A turbocharged model designed for high-altitude performance. Enables pilots to fly over weather systems and perform better at hot or high-elevation airports.

The expansion of Cirrus Aircraft’s North Dakota facility marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing growth and commitment to innovation in general aviation. By increasing production capacity and enhancing its manufacturing capabilities, Cirrus is well-positioned to meet the rising global demand for its aircraft. This investment not only strengthens the company’s operational footprint but also reinforces its role as a leader in personal and small business aviation.
